Upon seeing the new trinkets I had already started theory crafting this build, very glad I could pull it off.
The idea of the entire thing is to get vision of the enemies via either wards, talisman, potions of mind vision, or the eye of newt, then using disintegration to snipe them across the map and walls. The stars really aligned for this run to occur.
The seed is QRF-LTQ-ZSJ if any of you would like to give it a go.
how did you got so many upgrades?
You can find a +2 ring wherever, imp can give a +3 ring, talisman is easy to get to +10 if you have it for long enough. If you start with a +1 or +2 plate armor and have another one identified, troll blacksmith can get it to +3 easily, with some favor left over for additional reforges. A +12 wand just requires using most of your upgrade scrolls on it, and finding a leveled wand from the old wand maker helps.
Yeah this is actually a few less than the number of upgrades you can get (without RoW farm).
By default you find 15 upgrade scrolls in the dungeon. You can find +2 armour and a +2 wand. Troll blacksmith can upgrade your armour +2 to +4 with two reforge rewards and also upgrade another item by +1 if it’s at +1 or lower. If you use that last one to bring your mage staff up to +1 and then you can imbue the +2 wand you found to get a +3 staff of that wand type. Throw the 15 SoU on it and you now have a +18 staff. Thus you can end up with +18 staff, +4 armour, and whatever rings you find (+3 from imp).
As for artifacts: none of them can take upgrade scrolls. They each upgrade using their own unique mini-quest.
You can find +3 armor btw. If the armor piece was generated in some special rooms, and it was already +2, it can generate with other upgrade making it +3.
That’s what’s fun about pd, is that every item has a gimmick that can be built around in a way to take you to the surface.
