I moved to Fitbit from my Pebble Steel then to Apple Watch. I feel like I’m missing something important losing the Pebble watch capabilities. I hate modern smartwatches.

They stop making fitness data accessible by web, so that users can’t employ browser extensions/add-ons to scrape their own data, for their own needs. The companies that have done this Xioami, now Google, are saying as plainly as they can, we control your device, and now we wholly control your data. Want a specific stat or set a reminder or alarm once a stats been reached or missed, we’ll do that for you, sweetheart, no, no, you can’t do that for yourself, because we need to sell ad space on every communication you receive. This is all just one straight up fuck you to the users.

Did not know that this one of their goals with removing web access. Makes perfect sense though.

These companies are all oligopolies run by criminals. They extract massive amounts of money due to lack of competition.

Kind of makes me want to buy a Watchy. Does anybody know of an amazing open firmware for it? It seems like it has a lot of potential but I just don’t have room for another hobby in my life right now.
