The GunCon (also known as G-Con-45) is an official controller released by Namco. It is the first GunCon model, followed by GunCon 2 and GunCon 3. The controller was bundled with the 1997 console port of Time Crisis.

Unfortunately, you need a CRT for these to work. Or I guess fortunately, if you can find a nice CRT for a good price, because CRT gaming is awesome.

Why can’t they figure out how to make a new type of light gun work? This is my most missed genre

I mean if there’s unofficial ones why aren’t there official ones and why don’t we have a new goddamn house of the Dead

Huh, I wonder if there’s a way to make a “light gun” style game and the phone’s built-in send to TV function, and you’re shooting whatever your phone camera is pointing at on the TV screen? Is it possible to have the phone display something different than what it’s sending to the TV? Honestly, committing to the fact it’s a camera you’re aiming with could make for a fun Fatal Frame or Pokemon Snap type game…

I have a guncon3 somewhere around. It works with a pair of sensors placed on top of the TV, like in the PS Eye and XBox Move era. No CRT was required for that.

The length of the cable between the sensors was made for something like a 40" screen though, so if you play on a larger screen they sit a bit toward the center instead of in the corners where they are supposed to be.

I had this game down to 2 continues as a kid.

The boss with the wolverine claws and the orange-haired boss would be the places.

So good! And the GCon was a beast.

Can’t remember the names, but there’s a few modern tales on these you can buy, but are quite expensive. Thought about buying one a few years back, but the setup is complex with modern displays, and I was lazy about dealing with it.

Not to hijack this post, but does anyone know or have a definitive list of which titles came bundled with a G-Con45?

The Ghoul Panic bundle in good condition is my collection’s white whale…

I never owned a G-Con and only had a knock-off.of some kind. Spent a lot of time on Point Blank, Die Hard 2 (trilogy) and Time Crisis.
