Was Danny Greene as powerful as he was as portraid in Kill the Irishman?

Just curious, I watched the movie and wondering if the movie is accurate to how powerful he was. Was he able to take on several crime families? Could he have succeeded if he didn’t die?

Also was he the result of the Commision Trials? My cousin keeps insisting he was.
