Yes! If you look at old games on old monitors they look much better. Well, different, anyway.

I’ll never forget the first time I played nfl 2k for the dreamcast. I literally thought I had accidentally changed the channel to real football. The last football game I played was 2d - madden on the genesis. This was such a leap forward I had trouble believing it.

I was so hyped for the Dreamcast, but never got to own one or even play one until they were obsolete.

I vividly remember seeing that game on TV and thinking something similar. The game being shown was in the snow and it looked so real to me.

You look at it now, and it’s hysterically blocky, but in context, MAN, was it impressive.

I remember seeing the FF8 opening cinematic and saying out loud “graphics can’t get any better than this”

I remember thinking graphics had peaked with Metroid Prime. It was a good-looking game, but that was deeply inaccurate

Reminds me of when ESRB used to distinguish between “cartoon violence” and “realistic violence”, in the freaking 90s. Meanwhile it’s 30 years later and we still don’t have photorealistic graphics. (Unrecord comes close, but that’s not even out yet and it’s still not indistinguishable from reality.)
