These gonna destroy my trees if I don’t deal with them?

Something doesn’t have to be invasive to be detrimental to your plants or yard.

Slugs are awesome, but if they get at my garden, yeah I’m gonna do something to deal with them, that’s reality.

Its about degrees, right? If you see 1 leaf with 1 slug are you going to bust out the poison? Prob not. That’s different from seeing a plant overrun. If those cateepillars aren’t mobbing on your tree en masse it’s prob OK to leave em alone.

I’ll bust out the copper tape, because if you have one, you have more, and it’s easier to deal with an infestation before you have it.

Hence my post and asking, but to claim only invasive bugs are bad is pretty wild growmie.

Are they on the leaves, or at the juncture of branches? Leaves, fall webworms, branches, tent caterpillars.

Looks like webworms. They usually defoliate small areas of a tree. If it’s healthy it shouldn’t be a problem, it won’t look nice though.

There are some predatory wasps that eat or parasitize them.

inaturalist is pretty good at identifying caterpillars (among many others). It has a well designed app and the community too is really helpful

Hrmm, I didn’t see any webs, but it’s good to know they aren’t bad for the tree if that’s what they are.

I’ll try and get a better picture and see if my phone can identify them.
