Somewhat tongue-in-cheek, but eastern as in the Middle East. The Romans regarded Persian and Egyptian style autocracies (and to a lesser degree, Hellenic autocracies) as having a despotic character, unlike GOOD HONEST ROMAN autocracy which was definitely government by consensus, just with one man having all the consent.
