An Associated Press survey of delegates showed Harris had the support of 2,538 delegates, well beyond the 1,976 needed to win the delegates vote in the coming weeks. Democratic National Committee Chairman Jaime Harrison said on Monday the party will deliver a presidential nominee by Aug. 7.

Delegates could still change their minds before Aug. 7, but nobody else received any votes in the AP survey, and 57 delegates said they were undecided.

So in less than 48 hours from Joe Biden’s announcement that he would be suspending his campaign, Democrats have successfully rallied behind Kamala Harris.

I, for one, am stunned and relieved at the swiftness democrats have coalesced around Harris. All of Harris’ potential rivals have endorsed her (including Newsom and Whitmer) and VP candidates such as Arizona Senator and NASA Astronaut Mark Kelly, Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro, and even Kentucky Governor Andrew Beshear have had their names floated.

To top it all off, in a single 24 hour period Harris pulled in the largest grass-roots donation in history at $81 million dollars and around 880,000 individual donations, besting Donald Trumps $50 million after his felony convictions.

Democrats have successfully flipped the script on Donald Trump and the republicans who did not anticipate Joe Biden willingly stepping aside for the good of the country. Hopefully they can keep this momentum and enthusiasm going into election day.
