LETS GO IM SO FUCKING EXCITED.
I have had an aging Windows Mixed Reality Helmet for YEARS now and, while still fully capable but not bleeding edge, the PSVR2 is the only headset that makes sense as an upgrade to me.
Im really excited for the lighter controllers and the higher refresh rate of the PSVR2. Actively looking to buy one now.
I would love it if Sony started putting their VR games on Steam as a result.
I would love if Steam started putting their VR games on PS5 in turn. lol
I can’t accommodate a gaming PC rig both financially and spatially. :(
I’m really excited too. I like my PSVR2 a lot, it’s more comfortable and higher quality than my index. But I just can’t wait for modded beat saber again, the official tracks are getting tiring.
I am a little bit out of the loop, is there feature parity now when using PSVR2 on a PC with this, or are the restrictions the same, no eye tracking, etc?
From the Sony blog article:
“PS VR2 was designed from the ground up specifically for PS5 – so you’ll notice that some key features, like HDR, headset feedback, eye tracking, adaptive triggers, and haptic feedback (other than rumble), are not available when playing on PC. However, other high-fidelity and sensory immersion features of PS VR2 are supported, including 4K visuals (2000 x 2040 per eye), 110-degree field of view, finger touch detection, and see-through view, as well as foveated rendering (without eye tracking) and 3D Audio in supported games.***” Sony Blog
So I’m hopeful that eventually these features might make it over, but yeah, don’t buy it for the potential future features /:
From my understanding it’s not an issue if those being supported and used on SteamVR than it is a manufacturer choice.
Not to say this is not a minimum effort by Sony but it is something that will likely need to be solved on SteamVR’s side before it is on Sony’s.
Think of this implementation as still in the nice to have as opposed to need to have phase. A year ago there was 0 route to using a PSVR2 on PC. Now they’re is one.
