they should be able to do far more. they should have comforts, they should be able to afford a holiday. they should have time to find their passions and grow as a person more than as just a mere employee.

this position of rent and food alone should not become the new bar for acceptance.

I think the idea is that even though when the bar is in the basement it’s still a joke to say it’s “controversial”.

In my white-collar career job I had bosses tell me that I shouldn’t complain about not being able afford rent without a roommate because [insert nonsense] and it’s like, is that the best they can do? They literally just looked at me like “we don’t respect you as a human being and refuse to have even the slightest ampunt of empathy” and then had the gall to squirm when I wouldn’t kiss their ass.

So yes, you’re right, but the joke isn’t quite going with that angle.

And if you are able to pay rent every month, you shouldn’t get evicted just so the landlord can use the house as a fuckin vacation rental >:|

If they’d just pull themselves up by their bootstraps, they’ll be fine.

In my opinion any full time job should be able to afford food, rent for 1 bedroom apartment, basic life comforts AND also it should be enough to support a hobby and a 1 week vacation somewhere out of home each year

We could have had a socialist president, but everyone voted for Biden instead. We’re politically getting what we paid for.

I might be misremembering, but didn’t the DNC pull the “we don’t have to abide by the primary results” card? Or was that just when they pushed Hillary?

That was Hillary, and not only that, they argued that in court and won. The primaries are, sadly, kind of a joke.

In 2020, Biden was fifth least popular, only slightly ahead of ‘Mike’ Bloomberg. The DNC circled the wagons after Bernie won the first three contests, handed out favors to the more popular candidates in order to drop out and endorse Biden, and made it Biden vs Bernie.

They also did some pretty shitty bits of swift-boating, most notably on the CNN debate when they just pretended that Elizabeth Warren’s allegations of misogyny were true and left her mic on so she could confront Bernie on camera about it.

The whole thing was pretty sickening.
