Bro, get the fuck outta here. You said the opposite of what you now claim you were trying to say and are being a pissy little baby about it. Wah wah, don’t fucking care.

Can you, like, read? I didn’t say identifying the problem was the problem, I said bitching and not offering actual solutions. You are a stranger on a forum, not only can no one read your mind, we don’t even know where you’re coming from. Your first comment was excuses for why things are more expensive and the one I replied to was you, again, talking about bad politicians like there was nothing that could be done.

Solutions are good, lead with that next time.

The problem with people who take your approach is you never actually use your negativity to offer solutions. Then you act like you’re “being realistic and just trying to help”, such that if someone calls you out you can try to deflect and feel smart. You aren’t contributing anything to the conversation but telling everyone things they already know.

Example of something even vaguely close to genuine participation in the conversation: “Hmmm, the NIMBYs won’t like that. We’d probably also want to include a rule that demands a certain amount of social housing per neighbourhood, or [other actual solutions]. We could also use town halls as ways to lure them(they love to complain in public) in and then explain exactly what market-rate housing is. There are answers for sure, maybe places like Vienna can show us how they got theirs in place.”

OH! And in the end, it would also be so awesome if you knew that in cities the “wealthy” neighbourhoods are actually net negatives for tax dollar input/output. The richer people aren’t actually contributing, they just believe they are because they have zero understanding of how density works.

If we’re already living in a world where we can tax homes at 100%, 200%, etc. then we’re also living in a world where we can pretty easily tell NIMBYs to go fuck themselves.

  • Lots of people care, what kind of an ignorant statement is that? No one is saying that bad art is amazing art, we’re saying that bad art is still art and Ai slop isn’t art at all. And just like music where the artist turns out to have been hiding how shit they are, it’s possible that a lot of people will like something until they get new information and the go “ew, no thanks, actually.”

The technology will definitely struggle to survive if we don’t buy into the bullshit “inevitability” argument. Why is capitalism always “the market drives the innovation” until it’s something stupid that a billionaire wants and then it’s “too bad, fuck you”?

It’s so tiring having to explain colour to grey people.

Still happens all the time, but few people know about it. The US and Canada have such dead, sterilized cultures that most people aren’t even aware of old time, bluegrass, Quebecois, Métis, or Irish and Cape Breton music beyond thinking they’re just something quirky for a half-dozen rural people. There are public jams in even the biggest cities, and there’s usually at least one person either there or walking by who dances a silly little dance.

Not surprised, in Ireland the Dance Halls Act was literally designed to kill music in people’s homes so that they couldn’t gather in the same way and could only do so while being watched by the English. You kill off community cohesion and you kill off its ability to fight back.

Except that the damage it’s causing, just so someone can avoid reading a little, goes waaaay beyond a matter of opinion.

I do genuinely think AI is soulless and that alone is enough, but entirely separate of that its implementation is nothing but environment destroying, health fucking, brain sucking, garbage being used to spy on people. It’s all the bad shit that ever Cyberpunk and adjacent media ever has been warning against with none of the cool stuff.

Also it is definitely different than hating photoshop but if that’s where you’re at I’m going to save myself the anyeurism trying to explain it.

  • Despite them being a little out of wack and a terrible communicator, they do have a point. AI’s main selling point is centered around how it can make everyone more productive as if we actually need even more productivity. We’re all more than productive enough, AI is giving us nothing but unemployment(as those left are told to work harder), more climate destabilization, and reduced quality of life for every single living thing nearby a data centre.

Their first comment was also just plain bad, not gunna defend that at all. They seem kinda loopy.

It reads like an anti-tax weirdo’s poor understanding of how things work, and a big entity that owns property would love to spend less money on property taxes that might actually benefit the community.

  • In Canada, we have “centrists” that are really just fascists that don’t openly hate gay people. There is almost no difference between our current prime minister and the guy so many people were voting against. The stupid thing is that we have a proper progressive party.

My message to you is this: The conservatives know you’re scared and are using that. Their only tactic is to tell you that you need to vote against someone who is worse than them and then they get their power either way. It’s always “we can argue over the shade of blue once you put this specific shade of purple into power” and then nothing happens. The name-brand conservatives complain about them being woke, the “moderates” act like the problem is solved, and the left has to deal with both those idiots refusing to do any work.

I’m mostly just asking because I figured the meme was based in something.

I’m no experienced software guy, mostly just a guy who isn’t dangerously stupid, but I’ve been having a good time so far. Or rather, a boring time because the only thing I had to really do was edit the fstab so my other drive would auto-mount. Otherwise it’s delightfully unexciting.
