It’s crazy to hear the condition the Tories left things in on their way out. Of course we should take Labour’s criticism with a pinch of salt as there will always be mud slinging, but at the same time it’s hard to doubt anything the current government is saying regarding the state of things.

The Tories’ best chance of making a comeback was always to obstruct or lessen any future Labour wins. If their goal was to leave a mess and then force someone else to clean it up, it’s hard to see what they would have done differently.

The IFS have just said that the black hole in the budget is the same size as the changes in the last budget by Jeremy Hunt. It looks like they knew they were done and decided to leave some landmines around to mess Labour up.

Kicking projects like the Stonehenge tunnel into the long grass seems the sensible temporary response.

It’s ridiculous, we are all one people. Using the right hand to stab the left hand to encourage ourselves to be right handed…

Because they don’t see it that way. The world is divided into two groups, them, and everyone else, and they don’t care about the everyone else group.

They handed £20bn out and ran up the card so Labour would be on the hook to pay for it. And now Hunt’s bleating like he’s an honest man wrongly accused. How like the Tories to do something ugentlemanly, then complain that they’re not being treated like gentlement. Cry-bullies.

The electorate has been far too tolerant of this behaviour. I don’t get why it’s been allowed to go on like this, other than the poor state of journalism these days.

Honestly. Public accounts need to be way more open to the public.

There is no excuse to keep the numbers secret at all. Even the total of military spending needs to be open.

No future government should be able to claim the finances are a surprise. If voters cannot make chilies based on reality. Democracy ain’t really a thing.

Lets face it. We watched 2 parties argue about how well funded the manifestos were. Then in both 2010 and 2024 whe parties change. They clai the reality is nothing li,e what they predicted.

Why the hell not. And what is the point of fiscal policies if this is the claim. This should not be allowed. Anyone running for government should have a clear idea of what money is or isn’t there. As should the voters when governments are making choices.

Governments as they are run in their current form is just an extraction mechanism from working taxpayers to property owners… ie corruption. Transparency would ruin the regime’s ability to do their “job”

This aint happening short of people revolting. It will get worse before there is even a chance for it to get better. UK is deff ahead on enshitification tho compared to rest of the countries, but US is close behind with EU.

Projects that could be paused or cancelled include the road tunnel near Stonehenge

More misery on the a303 to come then…
