CARACAS, Venezuela (AP) — As thousands of people demonstrated across Venezuela, opposition candidate Edmundo González announced Monday that his campaign has the proof it needs to show he won the country’s disputed election in which electoral authorities named President Nicolás Maduro the victor.

González and opposition leader Maria Corina Machado told reporters they have obtained more than 70% of tally sheets from Sunday’s election, and they show González with more than double Maduro’s votes. Both called on people, some of whom protested in the hours after Maduro was declared winner, to remain calm and invited them to gather peacefully at 11 a.m. Tuesday to celebrate the results.

“I speak to you with the calmness of the truth,” González said as dozens of supporters cheered outside campaign headquarters in the capital, Caracas. “We have in our hands the tally sheets that demonstrate our categorical and mathematically irreversible victory.”

Their announcement came after the National Electoral Council, which is loyal to Maduro’s ruling Unites Socialist Party of Venezuela, officially declared him the winner, handing him his third six-year term.

Thousands of demonstrators took to the streets of Venezuela on Monday to protest the victory of Nicolás Maduro in the country’s presidential election.

In the capital, the protests were mostly peaceful, but when dozens of riot gear-clad national police officers blocked the caravan, a brawl broke. Police used tear gas to disperse the protesters, some of whom threw stones and other objects at officers who had stationed themselves on a main avenue of an upper-class district.

The opposition NOT saying, is PRESENTING PROOF in form of a web page linking into the output of voting machines, inclusive of serial and electronic verification key, supporting the votes by state, region, city, street and polling station.

    https://resultadospresidencialesvenezuela2024.com

To all the tankies in this thread: please show where the electoral entity from Venezuela has the breakdown of where the vote tallies are published to compare who’s speaking with truth and proof. Alternatively kindly GTFO.

Can’t cook without ingredients, it’s officially a coup by the existing government.

The electronic key only works with the portion of each auditor and the opposition will not provide the key to validate a new key.

I’m not sure if I fully understood what you wrote, but is there any way that the opposition could be boycotting the CNE validation of results even if they were legitimate, am I seeing this wrong? I mean, I went to https://resultadospresidencialesvenezuela2024.com/ and it looks like the results exist and the opposition has access to them, is there some alternative database that has to be validated?

Sorry, yeah, the comment wasn’t clear. It’s on me.

While the systems are separate one does not interfere with the other nor there’s boycott.

The opposition system scrapped ahead of time voters by ID and created their own platform to build a framework of transparency from ID to poll station and from there to an AWS bucket with an individual image of the polling station machine results.

That paper has a QR and multiple digital keys that verify their authenticity this has been confirmed by individual polling witness with their own copies and pictures of this physical support matching the opposition platform.

As these are not intertwined the electoral entity is not affected or even passed a query. They’re just not publishing the results as they’re definitely part of the coup from the side of the Narco State.

Just let me know if you have more questions bro, I’ll find out to fill in the blanks.

Got it now. I’m just astonished at how incompetent and ham-fisted the government is being about this. They aren’t even trying to produce an alternative credible story, just “american nazis”.

No, it’s not just that. Maybe you already knew Maduro was a bloody idiot. What I am saying here is that they essentially messaged that they will do whatever they want and that anyone who opposes this is against him, essentially fulfilling the promise he made about civil war. Even a putin understands the need to keep appearances to his own crowd to keep a country running…this is just suicidal hubris.

They’re probably right but looking at their political positions, I’m not sure Venezuela would be much better off with them. It looks like a run-of-the-mill economic shock therapy that has failed across the world. 😔

Apparently she admires Thatcher and wants to go on a privatization spree…which would indeed be shock therapy in a country like Venezuela… …but if they won, they won. I don’t like Erdogan or Milei…but if they had the popular support…

update: apparently, the neoliberal MUD was the only realistic opposition to run against maduro, because the government blocked all the actual socialists with a shot at winning from running (e.g. Henrique Capriles (banned from running), Leopoldo López (jailed and exiled), Antonio Ledezma (ormer mayor of Caracas), Freddy Guevara (jailed) Freddy Superlano (blocked and jailed today))…and still lost to the neoliberals. That’s how much people hate Maduro.

Milei is what I see from a brief review of their positions. Mass privatization (including oil production), rich is good, etc. They seem to lack the theatrics though.

The CNE declared Maduro winner, but has not published the official election records and blocked most of the observers and most neighbouring countries are refusing to accept the result without seeing the detailed records of the election by municipality. How is this western interference? Maduro is taking everyone for fools, but it’s always the west’s fault.

When it’s Trump, or Bolsonaro, or Orban stealing an election and refusing to go, do you know what you are going to say?

If only the Venezuelan Electoral council could show proof Maduro won I don’t see why this would be an issue.

Is not the western powers, this is self inflicted and short sighted from any democratic point of view: more votes = win an election.

He didn’t want the US involved into Venezuela"s elections, it’s well known Venezuela have a lot of natural resources… specially the most important of them… humans…
