    Something really weird happened.

So most people in Washington are part of this weird incestuous in-group where you have to spend a ton of time around money-men and lobbyists and consultants to the point where you don’t even know how to interact as a normal person anymore. Everything you say is fake. Every appearance is stage managed. The media and DNC and whoever are pretty good at sniffing out people who are genuine (Bernie or AOC) and shitting on them relentlessly, to the point where it’s difficult for them to get anywhere near power.

Harris is different. Of course she’s a politician, but she worked her way up in politics and held jobs where you had to perform for your employers as opposed to just win elections and then it was completely up to you until the next election what you wanted to do with the position or what to do on any given day. She hasn’t been in that Washington machine for long enough to need to be taught how much milk costs or what “streaming” is on the internet, or anything like that. She laughs on TV during interviews. She has stepkids. That’s why her tactics are so different – it’s not based on this pod-person understanding of American life or of “the voters” as if they were some kind of brain damaged alien species or advanced type of livestock or something.

It is basically only by accident that she was allowed near the levers of power. I don’t know how it will turn out, but if she does get elected, it could turn out to be really, really good.

Most of what you say about Harris was also true of Obama, so it’s not that uncommon. But hopefully she’s as solid a candidate. :)

Actually, going back through presidents, a lot of them seem to be relatively fresh to Washington. Clinton, Gw, Regan, and Carter were all Governors, Obama was a one term senator, Ford was a preposterous fluke and the longest “Washington insider” to become president (25 years as a representative) albeit he never actually ran, followed by HW who was an ambassador, vice president and CIA director.

Sanders has actually been in Washington longer than most of the recent presidents have.

    But Biden isn’t a dynasty.

And Clinton isn’t really either, because Hillary was never pres or veep. She tried to become a “dynasty” but failed, so you could have posted the same “no more dynasties” headline in 2016. Or… in 2008, when she didn’t make it to the general, and neither did a Bush. By my count the last “dynasty” was the Bushes, and it ended when Obama was sworn in. And the last dynasty before that was, uh, the Roosevelts? Unless I’m missing one in the VPs.

Did you know that we have never had someone not named Biden, Trump, Obama, Bush, Clinton, Reagan, Carter, Ford, Nixon, Johnson, Kennedy, Eisenhower, Truman, Roosevelt, Hoover, Coolidge, Harding, Wilson, or Taft as president since the year 1900!? America is a monarchist dynasty confirmed.

Interesting fact, but I’m not sure Biden qualifies as a dynastic candidate. But who knows? Maybe Hunter Biden runs in 8 years.

Yeah, if you leave Biden out of it it’s a lot less interesting. You could also tack on Mondale, Ford, Nixon, and Johnson and take it back into the 40s, but… Why.

Hell, Nixon appeared on the ballot 5 times as a combination of VP and Presidential candidate, which is two more times than either Biden or Trump.

Still interesting if you also look at the senate as a monarchy. I mean, damn.
