Inspired by r/Australias threads, what will you be up to this weekend?

Parents are usually the ones who organise social outings for their kids (or “playdates” as people seem to call them, which is a term I find a bit weird). But my daughter and her new best friend have organised for me and her mum to meet each other at a local cafe! This hasn’t happened before and it’ll be interesting to see how it goes. So it’s kind of a blind playdate for the mums, lol. The cafe they’ve chosen is between where we both live, and the food and coffee are excellent, so I’m already impressed. I’m a little nervous tbh!

Your daughter and her new best friend sound really smart and cool! What a great thing for them to do! I hope blind playdate for mums goes really well!!

Saturday will be a good washing day (I hope). North wind and sun until the afternoon. Then the weather turns nasty. Hope to mow lawn and garden too but this depends on the weather and whether I cbf.

Is it acceptable to say Dunch? I mean, we don’t say Leakfast, but is that cause leakfast is dumb, or because lunch doesn’t come before breakfast? Anyways, sounds good! I had a nap so i didn’t see this, have you been yet?

Just finished now. Was good, more booze than food so bit tipsy. I don’t know what is the most acceptable other than afternoon tea but that sounds too prim and proper for an afternoon sesh.

Went to some drag bottomless brunch for my mine and my partner’s anniversary (that I kept saying it was our 9th year of being together, turns out it’s 8 years. I dropped out of maths in year 10, but to be fair it’s our 9th year of friendship and honestly COVID makes it feel like we’ve been together for fifty years). And we had like a small rabbit food lunch and then so much alcohol. I was sloshed at 2pm.

Honestly, if it finished at 6, I’d just call that an early dinner

I’ve had a really full-on week so I’m just happy to potter today and will do some chores. Might go to the local footy tomorrow. Oh, and I’ve also been commissioned by my kid to cook a cake

Hopefully the weather tomorrow will be good enough to allow a small amount of gardening. Otherwise huddling inside with a hot water bottle and a cat trying to keep warm.

Ooh Japanese! I hope it went well. I’ve tried to get into Spanish, but I don’t have the attention span 🤣

I have, but I kept going through phases of doing like an hour a day for a week then not touching it for a month so I gave up
