I mean we probably would have invested in systems like this ourselves if not for the fact that most of the army command staff thought tank-on-tank battles were more or less a thing of the past, and CQB/urban was going to be the focus for the foreseeable future (and thus, you don’t want to concuss and shrapnel the infantry who are helping to watch your 72-imperial-ton ass).
I also believe our doctrine is to just have better armor generally, I’m pretty sure the export variants don’t have the same armor that US Troops would be provided.
