up on assault charges while on a foreign posting, flees INTO North Korea, surely the actions of a sane and well-balanced individual /s
Pv2 at 23. I didn’t think that was possible.
It sounds like he was facing some kind of trouble and maybe thought this was his way to avoid it. Maybe he thinks he can trade military secrets for protection and a decent life? Who knows. Seems pretty strange.
What secrets does a border guard have?
“No, it’s true, I swear! The coffee machines on our side can do both espresso and latte! And all the American barracks have 2-ply toilet paper! It used to be only 1-ply, but then last mo— What do you mean ‘this guy is useless’, I’ve just given you everything!”
Probably not so much state secretes but he can provide inside on how the US military trains soldiers, command infrastructure, and probably has some relevant information on how the border is guarded.
But mostly he would just be used for propaganda. “Look how bad the outside world is, people are running here for a better life”.
Seems like he had either financial difficulties, or was going to face “military disciplinary action” in the us. How do i link a news article?
“Well, getting
the brain outout of trouble was the easy part. The hard partwaswill be gettingthe brain outout of trouble.”That’s a good way to get blown up by mines, ain’t it?
Not in Panmunjom.
