    That’s really uncharacteristic for RBR. Both Gasly and Albon were let go despite scoring better than Perez is scoring right now. Either RBR don’t want to win the constructors or they’re no longer the team they once were or there’s something else going on. I don’t think the first two are true which means it’s the last option.

      Of course they are no longer the team they once were. Dietrich Mateschitz death left a power vacuum in the team. Marko probably doesn’t have as much power inside the team as he used to have with Mateschitz’ backing.

      This is about some combination of cost to replace Perez after resigning vs. choosing a teammate Max can live with.

      No way Checo is better than Carlos and they could have signed Carlos for next year without a cost to boot Checo didn’t, the only reason for that is Max would get upset and it’s not that he loves Checo, certainly not after that Monaco.

      Just seems high risk with Max being offered all sorts elsewhere and RB falling off their stellar advantage.
