Democratic party’s presumptive nominee 2.1 points over Trump in FiveThirtyEight’s national average

Too bad national averages don’t count when you have a corrupt system called an “electoral college.” She could be 99 points ahead and it wouldn’t matter because Florida and Texas hold all of the electors.

Get out and vote people. Harris/Walz need a landslide victory to win. We need every sticking vote and voter turnout will absolutely matter if we have any chance of fixing this bullshit electoral system.

I don’t like how weirdly quiet the right is, comparatively speaking. Makes me nervous. A rant or two isn’t much, in terms of the usual.

I’ve felt the same way since the assassination attempt. It’s almost like the game keeps changing on them and they have no idea what works anymore.

Let’s not underestimate them. Maybe they are running around like headless chickens without a clue, infighting and throwing tantrums.

Or maybe they’re researching, planning and coordinating an effective counter campaign.

Assume the worst and prepare for it, never underestimate the enemy. It wouldn’t take much to turn around things as they are and it’s still anyone’s election to play for.

Plus you know they will play dirty, count on that.

Someone on Reddit went into a deep play that I want to write off as conspiracy, but it’s stuck in my craw.

That essentially the speaker of the house can rig it by not accepting new candidates that will flip the house dem and asking for investigations, and then not accepting the electors and asking for investigations of key states processes, and then kicking the vote back to the states, where it’s then essentially 1 vote per state regardless of how much popular or electoral vote either candidate has. Governors voting would be a win for Trump.

So ya, the quiet complacency of the right atm makes me uneasy.

Granted I’m no historian and I’m not great at civics outside the states I’ve dwelled in. So someone would have to fact check that process. Maybe it’s bullshit meant to stomp on the joy.

They’re doing opposition research and conducting focus groups, almost certainly. Laying low, doing probing attacks, and trying to wait out the honeymoon period of Harris, presumably. At the moment they don’t have jack shit.

Polymarket: Harris 49.1%, Trump 47.6%, Michelle Obama(?!) 1.4%, others make up the rest. I’m impressed. I didn’t expect Harris to do nearly this well.

There was a lot of pent up energy for someone other than Biden. She capitalized on that really well, having consolidated support in an instant and adopting a positive tenor while also needling the fuck out of trump. Walz was a big win for her. People like me when from dejected to excited. I might even donate.
