These are the things that get programs like ours shut down. Someone streams obviously copyrighted content, just opening the door for Hollywood to start lawsuits against owncast.
Gabe, dev of Owncast, has received Cease and Desist before, but there’s nothing he can do about them. Since they’re not managed from one platform, best he could do is remove it from the directory, but that wouldn’t stop anyone from streaming. The streamer is taking the responsibility for that.
So they could get shut down, but I don’t think Owncast could.
To put him in that position in the first place though…
