Greetings to the members of Lemmy! I am a Reddit refugee and I’m currently re-creating all of my favourite subreddits. I invite you to join these communities made for the Android phone brands. I’ve always talked and lurked on their respective subreddits on Reddit and I’d like to speak with other enthusiasts here too!

In these communities, you can talk about new phone launches, ask for purchase advice, discuss software updates, get support and assistance regarding the products, share your opinions regarding the brands, even talk about the other categories of products these brands make and more! You can join the communities of the brands you have an interest in.

A little bit of background on these 4 companies (click to expand):

Oppo, vivo, OnePlus and realme are all brands that predominantly market to the Asian market. These brands belong to the same parent company called BBK Electronics based in China.

Oppo and vivo were initially their main brands. They did other stuff before they first made mobile phones. When they did start making them, their phones became very successful in China that they started expanding abroad. They found huge success in India, and subsequently in the wider Indian subcontinent.

In the present day, this single company controls 16.03% of the worldwide smartphones market now. That number rivals giants like Apple and Samsung, who control 31.44% and 25.27% of the market respectively. This makes BBK Electronics the third largest smartphones manufacturer in the world. The 4th is Xiaomi with 11.13% and 5th is Huawei with 4.01% of market share. So that’s a fact for the day, a company you might have never heard of before controls a large chunk of a market!
