TL;DW:

  • Settlements on each planet of the Pyro system will differ based on the amount of radiation and heat they have to deal with.
  • Pyro landing zones are more spread out and less secure.
  • Each settlement is aligned with specific faction which may affect where you’ll be able to enter depending on your reputation.
  • Farmsteads:
    • Small communities that suppose to “feel like home”.
    • They’re more spread out and have greenhouses and farms (with harvestables) as well as missions.
  • Scrapyards
    • They are the rare alternative to space stations when it comes to servicing your ship.
    • They can be recognized by sunken “landing pits” for ships.
    • You can do the usual space station things (repair, refuel, rearm).
    • No ATC, it’s all self-service.
  • New mission types:
    • Repairing or jump starting machinery.
    • Gathering crops.
    • FPS salvaging.
  • Trade posts:
    • Focused on trade, as the name suggest. Have everything from weapons, through ship components to food.
    • Products will differ based on location.
    • Offer primarily hauling focused missions.
  • There’s a showcase of various settlements with info on what and where they are as well as what to expect there.

Gathering missions in a lawless system? Really? REALLY? I cannot comment this stuff, its too stupid.

If these PVP idiots dont get stopped, it will break the game and nobody can fix it, when all PVE players are gone. Like any other games that tried to focus on PVP.

It’s certainly… a choice though I don’t think we could’ve expected differently - Pyro is the new system with all the shiny additions after all. Stanton won’t be getting a big update for a while plus they want to drag PvE and non combat players there. I just hope they won’t act surprised when people don’t roleplay according to their fantasies, again.

The best we can hope for is a safe system as a goal for the next (post Nyx?) expansion.

What happens if a large part of players ignore pyro because they dont like ongoing slaugther that the devs can only imagine as endless fun? (just look at the general consensus when the pyro test drive was over). There is no solution to that and dont will be (unless they are willing to make pyro like stanton, cannot see that. Even in stanton their crime system is not working - be a mass murderer and then log off. Next login you to will be perfect citizen again - made by idiots and it will cause the game is only played by idiots - this is a major issue).

From my POV they need learn thru the hard way, that if you dont listen you still can learn by pain. So the dev time for pyro is just wasted but if this is the only way to make idiots learn, then be it.

And when the next new system gets created in the next 5 years, you better design it in a way so that it appeals a large part of the player base.

PS: Nyx is nearly empty and the only LZ is Delamar. After all this shit talk about “cargo based” missions, we need a rich system can be the source and the target of long distance hauling. Dont see quanta comming, there is absolute silence so I think it got the icache treatment (silently killed).

Yeah, CIG has an unfortunate tendency to disregard 20 years of MMO (or even general games) history just so they can learn through their own mistakes.

They were surprised when during Pyro test people were “murder-hoboing” all over the place. They are surprised any time a mechanic is used to grief others (remember med gun in armistice fiasco?). For some reason they really believe they can use in-universe methods to correct out-of-universe behavior and make people role play the way they want. It’s one of the most disappointing parts of the development to me.

I’d like to say I wasn’t expecting this but… At least their art and environment teams are pretty great, that’s something?

Pyro looked good indeed but looking at the time they spent into creating it, it is no wonder.

It is a pity that all these devs dont have a clue how to create something without using PVP for everything.

So they are bound to a success of pyro - given the shitty start in terms of security / social state, it will be a bumpy ride. First thing they will learn, that people will just leave pyro because its not worth the hassle. Their two faction system will not solve the problem, that you just get shoot down everywhere without any negative effects (especially in space).

To be fair, they did state multiple times in various shows that some of the devs are all about the “chaos, killing and no safe spaces” so I’m not surprised that THIS will be our biggest play area expansion in years. I don’t like it but I’m not surprised.

I just hope CIG takes whatever criticism and lessons come out of Pyro seriously and actually listens to what players have to say. I don’t mean they need to make the game 100% suited for my taste but I’m really tired of them completely missing the point or dismissing criticism because “it’s tier 0 and things will be improved soon within the next decade”.
