And here we see why centrists are so happy to be on the wrong side of history regarding Gaza. AIPAC funds centrists against progressives.
Who exactly do you want me to vote for?
Harris.
You understand how American politics works these days, right? You can’t just say you’re gonna cut off Israeli military aid and force corporate America to pay people fairly and not expect them to throw tons of money against your campaign as a result. It’s shitty and it sucks, but at this point, the system can’t be fixed or modified unless and until it lets you in in the first place. So maybe pump the brakes on lighting Harris and her potential administration up for pragmatic political statements on issues they have zero direct control over right now, instead of dogpiling pessimistic shit about Harris - who, I should add, will undoubtedly have a policy towards Gaza that’s an order of magnitude more humane and less violent than Trump will.
Context is crucial. Don’t pretend it’s not.
more humane is not what the goal is
that is the thought process that got us in this mess to begin with
word for it don’t have at the moment but that is shite thinking
just because it is worse elsewhere does not mean you don’t strive for better at home or anywhere else
have you seen or read any articles about what is happing? on the same planet we are having this discussion on
not politics or a situation you act more humane in than the other guy
human life is not something you are for or against especially as a politician or as you put it more humane towards

practical goals?
Gone are the skyscraping demands for Medicare for All and a Green New Deal to transform the health care and energy sectors, which Harris endorsed in her failed 2020 bid and is now backtracking from. Progressives are instead homing in on a more pragmatic and economy-focused agenda that includes a minimum wage hike, child care funding and new Medicare benefits for seniors.
Congressional Progressive Caucus Chair Pramila Jayapal, D-Wash., who has endorsed Harris, said progressives are playing the cards they’ve been dealt.
“I don’t think that perfection is ever on the ballot. But real progress is,” Jayapal told NBC News in an interview. “Unless Bernie Sanders or Elizabeth Warren were elected president, we still have work to do to get those full things to be mainstream.”
“So much of our … Progressive Caucus agenda is stuff that we know she is for, just as the Biden-Harris administration was for, and I believe the Harris-Walz administration will be for,” she said.
This year, the Democratic Party more broadly has drifted substantially to the right on immigration while seeking to bolster law enforcement. Some in the party are also de-emphasizing progressive social causes in their campaigns.
“I don’t feel like it’s been a recalibration,” she said. “I actually feel like progressives have come out on top in most ways. I measure our success by what we got done. I think Joe Biden and Kamala Harris have been the most progressive administration that we’ve had in my lifetime.”
universal healthcare and not shitting where you eat are not progressive ideas they are just things we do to continue to live a clean healthy existence on this rock we live on that is located in the middle of nowhere with no other gas stations around
waited so long to raise the minimum wage even setting it to $15 would not help people when housing combined with just food alone is more than that wage would cover
if we really gave a care about seniors in this country they would not have hours long wait times at hospitals and we would have take care of the senior center buildings and quit giving them way out of date food and quit over dosing them on morphine when we are ready for them to go
this whole article just comes out as more Democrat propaganda made to set people’s minds at ease and to say we have to tamp our expectation and baby steps and to say it does not happen overnight even though we have been fighting for basic human rights since the start of the US
human rights are mainstream what the fuck else would they be
looks like locking kids up at the border, not defending DACA, and restrictive immigration policies are a both parties thing after all
was hoping Harris was a sheep in wolf’s clothing ready to pack some punch with this election but she is turning out to be just another wolf in sheep’s clothing
progressive politics are people politics and the citizens never come out on top especially during election year
It’s just another “don’t expect much” article. 2016 we were pushing for a $15 minimum wage. The Fight for $15. Nearly 9 years ago. Minimum wage is still at $7.25 since 2009.
