Well, the boycott would be more in response to a recent patch that was released. The expectation would be that a show of low engagement due to the patch, at the start of the 1st season for the game, would necessitate a roll back of some of the changes - to be fair all I’ve read and seen is that the patch nerfed so much that people are dealing half the damage they used to, and getting less experience for their troubles. I’m early enough in the game that I likely can’t even tell the difference, but for players in the end game, it’s wild.

Just read the patch notes and it sounds like the classic whining that MMO hardcores do every time something changes… seems to me like this only effects the try-hards who have been taken advantage of broken mechanics and bugs to dominate and faceroll everything through end game…

I’m only level 57 but I’ve finished the campaign and am just working my way through TIII stuff… so maybe I’ll see it later… but it didn’t look terrible to me. 🤷🏼‍♂️

The thing people don’t realize is that with ARPGs you NEED to nerf shit or everything is gonna get out of control really quick, you’re gonna end up with some D3 shit where you’re doing 45 billion dps on a monster that has 900 trillion HP. All these ADD players just want to zoom around the whole map one shotting everything on screen and getting to max level with perfectly rolled gear without even trying. Then they complain that there’s no content after a week.

I agree with you on this, but it looks like a lot of people complains are about that the grinding was already heavy and the patch update made grinding harder or longer without adding more fun to it, just nerfing stuff, we can say that the Season itself is the fun part, mm maybe is not. So yeah, they need to nerf stuff but at the same time making it more interesting so people engage with grinding again, I can imagine that is sth hard to balance, idk. I’m just level 50 trying to get to Tier 3 with a sorcerer and I can see that is going to take some time, maybe I’m just going to get bored trying to get there.

One thing I’d recommend is just do the capstone and go to T3… the power jump after getting the gear that isn’t soft capped is insane… I was struggling T2 with a level 52ish Barb and I hit the bullet and grinded the story to get to T3 and I was shocked at the change… still gotta watch the survivability… but damage took off.

If anything my char feels more powerful now. I have a much easier time blowing through side dungeons and such.

I read an interesting analogy about it. basically it’s like ordering a steak from a restaurant, but then the cook comes out and takes the plate back. he takes it to the kitchen and brings it back to you tougher to chew. when asked why it is more chewy, the cook says it’s so that you can gnaw on it longer. those in early game don’t notice so much because they haven’t made it to the ‘meat’ of the game yet. I plan to revisit it after BG3 and some QoL improvements.

What’s stopping a modder from releasing a balance patch to fix the community concerns? Or is Blizzard’s “always online on a single player game” effective in thwarting any attempt?

I’ll believe it when I see it (or read a post on here talking about how it’s actually working)

Never heard of CharlieIntel before and after skimming through this “article” and seeing it is unironically sourcing reddit threads, I simply cannot. Sincerely hope whomever runs this shitty website finds another hobby cuz this ain’t it.

The only thing that stays the same is that everything changes.

Enjoy what you have while it lasts. Nothing is permanent. And when it’s gone, don’t waste too much time grieving for its loss; be thankful for the time you did have it, and find something new that brings you happiness again.
