They need to port it to PC, then, if they don’t like the sales numbers. I’d buy it, it looks fun.

Yeah, their response seems to basically boil down to ‘It’s doing great if you consider it’s ps5 exclusive’, which kinda misses the point. It’d probably have sold even better than 15 if it wasn’t. It’s just strange that they’d neuter their own potential for sales. I’d have bought it too, but I’m already losing interest, and there’s no sign of it coming to other platforms anytime soon.

I already lost interest the second I found out it was exclusive. PC gamers are eating pretty consistently good, I don’t need another final fantasy right now. I’ll get hype when I look through steam one day and see it.

Anymore, I just don’t care about hype and new releases. If it’s a good game, it’ll make its way to me eventually. I have dozens, maybe hundreds of games to catch up on.

I’m not one of those people that says “why make this” when it’s a game style I don’t like, so I’m all for anyone who loves this style of game to be happy and enjoy it. That being said, I long for a day where we get a turn based Final Fantasy again (that isn’t just another remake of older games).

I for one only started playing FF games because they began to make them real time instead of turn based. Hope they continue to use a dual system like FF7R so that everyone’s happy

I started this way but then slowly started getting into turn based. Turn back before you start spending dozens of hours into Dragon Quest

I tried FF7R’s attempt, but it just doesn’t do it for me. It is nice that they tried though I suppose.

Same but with XII. I thought X was a great send off to the old style ATB. XII was a great way to bring in free movement with ATBs.

You could always try Bravely Default. Takes big inspiration from FFV and the job system. It’s pretty hard, too. Bravely Default 2 is on Steam and it’s pretty fun, but if you can somehow get your hands on the 3DS Bravely Default and Bravely Second, they have a ton of content and are loads more fun.

Have you played World of Final Fantasy, Chocobo Dungeon, or FF Dimensions?

The debate was fuelled by a Bloomberg article that pointed out sales of the game in Japan had dropped dramatically in the second week after launch, that initial sales had “lagged” behind previous games in the long-running role-playing series, and Square Enix itself was “grappling with weak momentum” on its flagship franchise.

Well, I don’t know what tf they were expecting. Because Sony decided to focus on the North American and European market, PS5s were almost impossible to find in Japan until a few months ago, and they’re still hard to get (the electronics store near me in a big part of Osaka only has PS5s with the disc drive for sale, because the digital edition is perpetually “sold out”). Steam sales in Japan are at their highest because a lot of folks gave up on getting a PS5 and switched to pc gaming. Add to that that PS5s only became relatively available just as prices for everything, including food, started shooting up. People couldn’t get PS5s, and they’re releasing a game just when people aren’t spending as much.

Personally, I got so frustrated with the PS5 stock situation and then the price increase when they had brought down shipping and production costs that I don’t even want a PS5 anymore and am now a pc gamer.

When someone asked YoshiP before the game came out about if it would come to PC, he said to get a PS5…when stores in Japan were still doing lotteries for the chance to buy one because they were so hard to get. So yeah. I don’t know what planet SE is on thinking it would have strong sales in Japan past the first week.

I hope whatever quiet timed exclusivity deal they signed with Sony was worth it.

There’s a small selection of games that have the cachet for their PC launch to be an event even if they are behind. Even some of Sony’s that are way late got pretty big releases.

Though the fact that they’re competing with Starfield and Baldur’s Gate 3 as alternative big RPGs at that point does make it harder. They might each have their own flavor, but there’s a lot of overlap.

I mean as far I’m concerned, PC is the main platform. If it isn’t out for PC and available on Steam, it basically doesn’t exist for me.

I’m still working my way through FFXVI on my PS5 but on PC, Battlebit Remastered has my full attention as a disgruntled former Battlefield player.

Right now 7 Days to Die, Guardians of the Galaxy, PlateUp!, and Days Gone.

GotG is amazing but the combat is so dull and repetitive
