Joe Biden’s claims about Gaza are absurd
The bit where he lost me was “A lot of innocent people are being killed on both sides.”
Really? After 10/7 how many Israelis have been killed by Hamas? 271?
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Casualties_of_the_Israel
"Israel’s total casualty count is 1,410 killed. Of these, 1,139 were killed in the October 7 attacks.[citation needed]
On 1 December, around 1,332[157] Israelis had been killed since 7 October (inclusive),[158] including 395 IDF soldiers, 10 Shin Bet agents and 59 police officers,[159] and at least 1,271 have been wounded.[160]"
Well, gee, killing 395 active soldiers definitely justifies killing 40,000 innocent civilians. /s
An observation from George Orwell — “those who control the present, control the past and those who control the past control the future” — is acutely relevant to how President Biden talked about Gaza during his speech at the Democratic convention Monday night. His words fit into a messaging template now in its eleventh month, depicting the U.S. government as tirelessly seeking peace, while simultaneously supplying the weapons and bombs that have enabled Israel’s continual slaughter of civilians.
Except the US is not in control of this situation…
I guess the US better stop sending money and weapons then.
Or else what?
Or else we’ll continue being party to genocide.
Lol. Seriously?
Were you out there protesting when the US invaded Iraq or Afghanistan?
If your cooncern is the damage done, you’re way fucking late: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foreign_interventions_by_the_United_States
Yes I am, yes I was, and the first step in repair work is to stop the machine that’s doing the damage.

Gonna say this again in this thread, because it apparently needs saying for some people that don’t understand geopolitics.
- The United States is not fighting on the ground in this war.
- The United States is not assaulting Gaza
- A national alliance with another country isn’t just willy-nilly bullshit you can change your mind on at any point
- Israel is the ONLY ally the US has in this part of the world
The only country NOT signing on to the ceasefire agreements is Israel. If your issue is that US is selling them munitions, GUESS WHAT? Other countries will totally do so, and we would lose them as an ally if we didn’t.
Your want for the world to be what it isn’t is not the problem. Your anger should be directed at the people who are actually doing the bad things.

Nope, just the reality of the thing. Israel will get their weapons from elsewhere if we don’t comply, and then we lose a base of operations in that part of the world. It’s the unfortunate world you’re living in.
Israel will get their weapons from elsewhere if we don’t comply
I don’t see the problem here. That’s one less source for the means of genocide.

Good. America isn’t the world police and should not have military bases outside its own territory.
just the reality of the thing.
It’s the unfortunate world you’re living in.
“The world sucks so we shouldn’t even bother trying to make it suck less” is not a compelling argument in my opinion.
If the US wants to intervene they can do so through the UN.
