Asked if future Final Fantasy games may see a day-one release, Takai says “I think it’s possible – probably even likely,” before adding, “That said, the team in charge of each project gets to decide its own policy, so this is just my personal opinion.”

While Takai’s thoughts are his, they align with what Square Enix has said throughout various financial briefings throughout the year. At the company’s financial results for the last fiscal year, the developer spoke of a “shift from quantity to quality” as it “aggressively pursues a multiplatform strategy.”

I wonder if FF7 Rebirth under selling changed their tune.

I’m pretty sure it did. Usually these are exclusivity releases are negotiated with the platform companies. They’ll still probably make an offer to Sony, but at a significantly higher price to compensate for lost sales during the first year. After the first year, it seems like it’s allowed to go on other platforms.

SE has already annouced, that they want to go more multiplattform releasing game von ps, xbox, pc and even nintendo plattforms. So i’m not surprised about that.

This is definitely what SE wants, but that’s going to depend on how much Sony is willing to pay for 1 year of exclusivity in the future.

At least SE want more money and didn’t get enough the last years. So either Sony is paying more or they go multiplattform. Japan is maybe for sure a market SE doesn’t want to lose. And the ps5 is decent there, but nothing compared to switch and the pc is maybe about as big as ps5 or even biger in japan.

      and even nintendo plattforms

That would be interesting, but for big titles it would only be possible if they’re targeting the Nintendo’s next generation along with Sony’s current generation. We might have a few years where the PS5 and Switch 2 are comparable, before attention shifts to PS6. All speculation at this point. All I know is there’s no way in hell FF16 or Rebirth could ever run on the current Switch.

The next Nintendo generation should at least have about as much power as the Xbox Series S. So we will, at least for a while, have games with lower graphic (xbox series s/nintendo’s console) games with mid graphic (PS5, Xbox Series X, some pc’s) and high end (PC’s, maybe ps5 pro soon). The ps5, xbox series shouldn’t be replace for about 4 years. So yes, until PS6 there shouldn’t be a big problem invest in nintendo’s plattform.

I’ll be surprised if we end up with Switch 2 being comparable to PS5, but Series S sounds about right to me. Though I will be disappointed if it’s not as comparable to the Steam Deck at least
