Dr. Anthony Fauci, the former top U.S. infectious disease expert, spent time in the hospital after being infected with West Nile virus and is now recovering at home, a spokesperson confirmed Saturday.

Dr. Fauci rocks and I gratefully appreciate how he was there for us all during a difficult time.

For me he made me feel better not scared because I knew someone who knew what they were talking about was in the room.

He came on tv and explained what all the research was saying in a way that I think most people could digest and understand. When it became clear that masks were a huge help in stopping the spread I was definitely relieved because before then we were just guessing.

It’s unfortunate that the news he shared wasn’t what people wanted to hear and it required us to make sacrifices that none of us wanted.

        We learned a lot.

who said he was likely infected from a mosquito bite that he got in his backyard.

“Dr. Fauci was hospitalized about ten days ago after developing fever, chills, and severe fatigue,” the post on X said. It said Fauci spent a week in the hospital.

Little known fact but epidemiologists have to test every known infectious disease on themselves to understand their effects.

Wishing the best to Dr Fauci, he was certainly better than the clown we had here, Anders Tegnell

Actually, it might. I thought mosquitos were attracted to the co2 from our breath. So the masks might help reduce how far they can smell you.

Not a wives tale. That how mosquito traps are made is by burning a small flame of propane to generate co2 and heat. And then a small fan blows air into a net faster than they can fly so they get trapped in the bag and dry out

Not sure if you were intentionally making a joke knowing it’s spread via contact/mosquitos, or just really dumb.

      Either way, I chuckled.

Former Chief Medical Advisor to the President of United States, former Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, a physician-scientist and an immunologist but he gets sick?

    There’s something fishy here.

CBS News’ chief medical correspondent, Dr. Jonathan LaPook, wrote in a social media post that he spoke Saturday with Fauci, who said he was likely infected from a mosquito bite that he got in his backyard.

There are no vaccines to prevent West Nile, or medicines to treat it. As of Aug. 20, the CDC had recorded 216 cases in 33 states this year. It’s best prevented by avoiding mosquito bites.

would be challenging to avoid all mosquito bites

Gonna be more challenging as populated areas become favorable mosquito breeding ground because someone woke up the global warming Climazilla.

It’s transmitted by mosquitoes so good luck dodging that. Most infections are asymptomatic or have mild symptoms so if anything, he got diagnosed simply by being who he is and having a social circle which is mostly medical professionals. Probably got a headache and decided to scratch an intellectual itch by getting tested, not much to it

This here is good old elemental irony, not that weird Morissette isotope so popular back in the Aughties. Cook some bacon on this irony, because it’s heirloom.
