I always though that Reddit admins of all people would understand that “you don’t mess with Reddit”. Well, apparently not …

Seeing how the vast majority of people stayed and are gladly participating in reddits PR event, I think it’s fair to say that messing with reddit can be fine.

The strange thing about reddit refugees on Lemmy is that they have this weird sense that the platform they left actually died when they did so. The trith is that the vast majority did not migrate and are happily eating their spoonfed shit.

When we say it’s dead, we mean what is used to be is dead. But let’s not pretend the site actually died or is no longer working. We can all (justifiably) think it’s a shit filled shell of it’s former self without being in denial.

I’m a refugee, but I have no illusion about my value to Reddit (or how much my absence will be noticed - barely at all if at all)

I think, for some of us, it’s not like “the platform will die”; it’s “I left the circus. No longer my deal”. Thrive, falter … it’s no longer our business; and that’s freeing.

A quick reminder to everyone that MySpace still exists.

Just because the link doesn’t 404 doesn’t mean that something ain’t dying or dead.

They’ve been propping up Myspace’s corpse like Weekend at Bernie’s since 2008. I feel like they’re trying to do the same thing now with the new version WinAmp. They’re dead to me.

As others have pointed out in other posts, they are using Spez as an escape-goat. It makes total sense. Once they get rid of Spez, their policies will remain and the hate will no longer have a tangible target.

If he hadn’t always been a shithead, maybe. What he’s doing now is the same as he’s always done, just more of it and he no longer has a handler to tell him to knock it off.

      Some months in the future…

u/notspez: “Hello Reddit, this is u/notspez. I’m the new CEO of Reddit. Pic related, it’s me. We snoos stand together.”

Reddit: “WE DID IT REDDIT! WE DEFEATED SPEZ! REDDIT IS SAVED! WOHOOOO!!!”

…serious now, I agree with you. It’s a lot like Ellen Pao, except that spez probably knows that he’s being used as scapegoat and he’s OK with it. The business itself is rotten, and the very fact that they’re giving spez a green card to screw with the userbase shows that anyone who they put in place would be as trashy as him. Fuck spez and fuck Reddit Inc.

Escape goatse paints a more vivid picture. The more despicable and hate-able the hate sink, the better it is for the true masters of the realm.

I really am glad that people are still flaming Reddit but at the same time they are still using the platform which is disappointing. I was really hoping people would accept that Reddit has gone to shit, that there is no going back to the way it was, and to move onto another platform like Lemmy or whatever other alternative.

they intentionally will never post anything of value ever again. Their trolling reddit and its IPO. They arent staying. Likely will ghost it once the IPO is complete

Edit: i misunderstood you, found somthing that invalidates my words

IDK what it says about me, but I noticed a subtle(?) nod to ‘one man one jar’ in the portion of the comment chain about sodomizing Steve Huffman with various things.

Fediverse needs some more fault tolerance before it’ll grow. Hopefully they eventually implement message queues so moderation decisions that fail to federate eventually will.
