A website asking me to “disable ad-blocker” has the balls to tell me I should turn off Firefox Tracking Protection. That’s like saying “yeah, we absolutely want to track you across websites, would you do us a favor and let us do it? Please :)”
A website asking me to “disable ad-blocker”
Correct recourse: close tab.
why not name and shame?
Good idea, should’ve done it haha. I no longer remember what website it was, but I’ve seen the same dialog appear a few times since.
If you really want to see it, you may try loading it up in archive.org or achive.today. The bonus is that the webpage now has been archived and anyone can find it if it disappears.
Also, if you install uBlock Origin, it might be able to automatically hide these access blocker things. Actually, it is totally able, the only question is if you have a block list enabled that tells it how to do so
Edit: just noticed after sending that this is a 2 years old post. Sorry! How did this get into my subscriptions feed?
I was blissfully unaware how old it was until you said something, so you’re not alone there
And to be honest, I kind of like this popup. It tells me (1) to avoid this website and (2) what extensions I can download that will cause trackers the most disruption!
Lemmy’s Magic! ;)
PS. I don’t know
Haha no worries, it’s nice to get some tips, thanks! :D
