    Good morning, McLaren…

I hope it’s not too little too late for WDC.

No no. We hear Ferrari is making a move. And when they do, pounce! Block! It’s a 3rd for you!

This far in the season yeah, bit Norris isn’t doing himself any favours losing the lead from pole. Still didn’t seem so long ago he was just stoked about winning a race.

And Piastri isn’t doing the team a favor by squeezing his teammate so hard he loses two places.

It just shows how important it is to have the best car in the race

It’s such a long shot that’s based on three things.

    Red Bull continues to struggle.

    McLaren stays on form.

    Ferrari/Mercedes

A driver’s title almost seems impossible at this point. All it takes is one good Verstappen race and it’s all over.

Yes, but it also only takes 1 Verstappen retirement to really bring things closer.

I don’t disagree that it’s a long shot at this point though. If Red Bull can stay in the mix for podiums (and Verstappen is always a threat there) his WDC is pretty safe with the lead he’s got now.

Isn’t it like 40 points? 1 win by Lando and 1 retirement by Max in 8 races brings it to 15 points, which Lando can keep leap in a couple races.

Ah then nope. Typical McLaren making decisions so bad that makes me cringe.

McLaren could easily win world title here if not for their arch nemesis: McLaren!

      McLaren stays on form.

That is the main issue, because McLaren is not in a great form right now. They must reduce a gap that nobody had ever managed to reduce in the history of the sport. They have to deliver 10/10 every weekend, they have to be clinical. McLaren is nowhere near to that.

There also are more races than ever before. On average he needs to catch 7 points per race. That’s difficult but doable with the current point structure and amount of races left

That’s the point. He needs to perform at 100%, but he isn’t doing that. He’s making mistakes, and so is his team, despite having one of the best or blatantly the best car for many races now. So far, McLaren has thrown away more opportunities than they have capitalized on. Norris isn’t even the fastest McLaren driver anymore. I don’t see them pulling this off.

And their car on straights is so much faster than red bull. Can’t remember what races are left though.

McLaren is not in a great form right now

Are we watching the same races? They’re in the best form they’ve been in for more than a decade, they currently have the fastest car, and they lost the win yesterday on strategy not performance. I agree with you that they need to really be on it, but it’s definitely looking possible!

and they lost the win yesterday on strategy not performance.

I think that’s what they mean. They have the best car but they keep making blunders everywhere else. Lando’s made mistakes but so have the team.

I think they’ve been caught with their pants down operationally, they’re just not used to winning and being in this situation.
