Saka 5 GA in 3 games. PotS loading.
I am still seething about Kavanagh
Charles Watts is spot on in his reaction to this, and specifically to all the pundits and their “the ref had no choice!” arguments. It’s total nonsense!
The ref had two decisions against Brighton players in the first half and ignored them. According to the ‘letter of the law’, that should have been two yellow cards. But it wasn’t. So why should Declan’s much more subtle and non-consequential action need to follow the letter of the law when those two Brighton actions didn’t?
Also, the ref’s job isn’t to purely follow the letter of the law (because fuck knows they absolutely suck at that!). It’s to apply some context to the situation. So Kavanagh shrugging and going “sorry, I have no other choice!” is bollocks. He clearly DID have a choice. And he chose wrong.
Even if the ref “had no choice”, as in he was told at halftime that if there is ANY incidence of delaying a free kick, it’s a yellow, why is the Veltman kick completely ignored?
When the ref pulled out the card the entire bar I was in applauded thinking someone was being punished for physically lashing out at an Arsenal player (for what seems to be the 10th time in 3 matches). But no, not only did he punish Rice for something he let go in the first half, he completely ignores the context around the incident.
So sure, the ref “had no choice”. He’s also a blind cunt.
We just need to take out our frustrations on the Spuds then.
Ive watched very little epl this season, but here are my shit takes after getting some time off this weekend and watching 4 games:
Liverpool are a force to be reckoned with at the moment, and potentially this season. The fact that a new coach has managed to maintain their fluidity and how clinical they can be is pretty hectic, plus having an on-fire Salah doesn’t hurt.
ESR will not thrive at Fulham. Either the injury has really done a number on him, but more likely the football of relegation battle teams just doesn’t suit his play style. I hope this changes soon as he starts getting consistent minutes.
Ten Hag may be the first manager sacked if United don’t win next match. Losing like that at Old Trafford isn’t going to help his stock much.
Spurs won’t make the top 4 with their squad. Son needs a vicious striker to really show his potential, similar (but obvs not as good as) Ødegaard.
I really hope Sterling can come and give Saka a break. Man has been going non-stop since the 2021 season and I feel it is showing.
Spurs looked so good early last season that people were making jokes about them winning as soon as Kane left. The early season can be weird.
Sterling scored against Manchester City in both legs last season.
Is there any way he starts? It’s a few weeks out but apparently he’s completely out of training
I heard he went back to Stamford Bridge early this summer to get in shape. And he was working hard there for a while because he really wanted to get into their new manager’s good graces. So even if he’s been slacking off with training for 2-3 weeks, hopefully he’s not that far off.
I really hope you’re right - if that’s the case, then maybe he comes on at the end of the Shit match for Saka
Galatasaray loaning in Osimhen. I guess Turkey is technically Europe, but unless he tears it apart his value is only going to go down.
