It’s nice on Lemmy because you can see how many votes up and down, along with the total. Reddit was the same a long time ago, but they removed vote counts. A post with a score of 0 could have thousands of downvotes, and your one upvote doesn’t change anything. It’s still a nice sentiment, and would only really help the people who have just one downvote.
I don’t fault you for this habit and think it’s admirable, but don’t posts start with +1? Having zero means someone did acknowledge the post. Putting it back to +1 makes it appear as though no one has seen it yet.
I take it as somebody has downvoted it and I am giving it a fresh start.
I like it. Start anew despite rocky beginnings.
This might just be a bug, or a minor federation issue, but I have seen posts at a clean 0/0. I might have to start paying attention to see if they’re coming from the same instance or not.
It’s not frequent, though. Just kinda a random thing.
That’s pretty awesome. If I see a post from a small community at a 1, I always updoot so it’s at least a 2
