I remember a year ago, people were arguing that F-16 is too logistically difficult for Ukraine. And now they are getting F-16s and Gripen, while in talks to get F-18s as well.

Really makes the previous complaints look quite unfounded.

@BombOmOm I don’t think they have been promised Gripens or even Hornets yet? Swedes are only training and Australia is considering giving their old Hornets

I think the Brits were training them on another fighter in RAF service too.

Not promised, but these rumors often have a somewhat known results. Think himars, tank, patriot… There would be no reason to train pilots on the gripen or f-16, if there wasn’t at least some willingness to actually supply the planes as well.

I don’t remember hearing anything about the Brits training Ukrainian pilots (would be really cool if they are, though!), but I’ve heard multiple times that the French are training them on the Mirage 2000.

As Swede this is really cool to here. Those planes are not great though, but hopefully they’ll help!

What’s wrong with the gripen? The bar shouldn’t be that high if it’s compared to soviet era equipment.

Compared to American planes, they’re lacking in every aspect except price. But that’s probably true, compared to the Russian planes they’re probably very good haha
