I have a million hdmi cables, a bunch still in their packaging because i haven’t needed to use what came with devices. This isn’t an issue for me.
Same reason phones often do not come with accessories like a charger, cable, earbuds, etc. any more.
As someone who didn’t refresh their phone every year, I didn’t mind the charger and cable that used to come with it. Having a few spares is nice.
