I started the goal of running at least one mile every single day a while back, inspired by an Olympic athlete I got to know while working next door to the Olympic Training Center.

I had made it five straight months without missing a day until yesterday. Out with gf and her friends. Was planning to do it after got home, but we were out late.

Once I figured out that we were gonna be there later than I planned, I tried to get out for a bit. But gf wouldn’t let me get up and run around the block. Meh, not the right shoes anyway.

So just like that, the streak is over.

Rule I follow: if you miss even a single day, the countdown resets.

Some of the running streak people I know have done it for over 3 years. I got a long ways to go.

Pretty satisfying about sticking to it day after day, even when the weather’s bad or I’m just feeling lazy. Some days, I’ll go out for a quick mile, while other days, if I have more time, I’ll push myself and run four or five miles just to mix it up.

Fun way to stay committed, and I’ve found that it’s given me more focus and motivation in other areas of life, too.

I definitely wanna make it a least a year, but I plan to go years. (Running with covid wasn’t awesome, but I did it!)

Physically, I’m fitter than I’ve ever been. So it’s been awesome so far.

And now spare pair of shoes in my car. Date night or no date night, I’m getting my mile in. :)
