Elon Musk said on Sunday he was looking to change Twitter’s logo, tweeting: “And soon we shall bid adieu to the twitter brand and, gradually, all the birds”.
So he didn’t buy it for the brand. (He’s killing the brand.)
He didn’t buy it for the employees. (He fired all the employees.)
He didn’t buy it for the real estate. (He doesn’t pay his rent.)
He didn’t buy it for the userbase. (He has driven so, so many away with his chicanery.)
So what the living fuck did he spend $44 billion for anyway? Because he’s a giant fucking piss baby? You got me, I don’t understand this fucking idiot at all.
Controlling the narrative.
And that has worked out pretty well for him so far.
That only works if you don’t alienate the user base.
I’m almost certain he didn’t want it at all; that it was a giant publicity stunt but he ran into a contract he couldn’t default on or back away from.
It all started as a stock market manipulation scheme. Now that “Daddy” told him he had to make good on his commitments, he’s throwing a tantrum and saying “well, if I’m forced to buy it, I own it. And if I own it, I can do whatever I want with it. So I guess I will can just do this!” and he proceeds to destroy it. Just another spoiled brat rich kid who doesn’t like being told what to do.
i think he was forced to buy it, then went to a back alley and offered up an amazing deal for asshole billionaires; ‘who wants to help me kill twitter’. its pretty obvious who footed most of the bill besides king of the idiots there.
Valid theory. Twitter was getting a lot of attention for their work to reduce the spread of misinformation and blatant racism. Both things that the republican party and their supporters seem to be firmly opposed to. It might therfore make sense to delegitimize the platform while giving a megaphone to the people who were previously being censored or fact checked.
I always say “follow the money” which is why I couldn’t figure out Elon’s motives in all this. It doesn’t make sense to buy a company then intentionally tank it’s value. But it might make sense in terms of people in power controlling another media outlet to broadcast and reinforce their narrative.
It wasn’t even that. Just a dumb spur of the moment decision because he thinks he can just do anything.
So changing it to a swastika?
What amazes me, is how many people follow & defend this tosspiece 🤷🏻♂️
Considering Twitter went down the shitter, my suggestion is 💩
To further cement the change in iconography, they should change “tweets” to “poots”.
Elon announced he was changing Twitters name to better reflect the core values of the company. Twitter is now to become “X Æ A-1488”.
He’s planning a name change too, to both bring it back to its roots by removing the vowels and to reflect where it’s going.
The new name will be shttr.
May I suggest 💩Shitter - it’s where most people use it anyway.
