I am not normally a JW fan (the standard Green is the exception) but this Islay heavier Island version was very enjoyable even in the tropical weather.

One tip that has really helped me a lot is most International duty free shops will let to pre-order online weeks in advance, often from a larger selection than they keep on-hand in the shop. Some shops you pay upfront, some you don’t pay until you pickup. Usually when you pay later, you can pick and choose which bottles you want to buy and which to put back on the shelf. The real beauty of pre-ordering is you just walk-up to the customer service desk, they already have your bottles ready, and then you just carry them on the plane since it’s after security checks. Also you’ll know what they have at the airport and what prices are, so if you find something better or cheaper in town before you get the airport you know to buy it then.

I’m a single malt fan and have had good luck finding interesting expressions in DF shops, especially at Schipol.

Schipol did have a good selection. That is where I grabbed the Laphroaig PX cask. My good friend lives in Amsterdam with his wife that’s from Ukraine. When my gf and I travel to Europe, we fly in and stay a few days in Amsterdam and then go to the next destination. We absolutely love the Van Gogh museum and the Rijkes museum. Last time it was going to Lisbon. Croatia is on our list when we go back that way but we can do an entire Aruba trip for so much cheaper than Europe.
