Just a general thread about running. How’s your running going? What are you training for? Did you get new shoes? Sporting an injury etc.

First race ever for me tomorrow, so no run today. It’s a 10k and although it’ll be hard for me with my current fitness, I’ve done the distance before and am looking forward to the group running experience. Just wish it wasn’t such an early start. 7:30 gun, but public transport in on a Sunday morning means I have to leave home at 5:30.

You set the bar pretty high for your first race.

Good luck! Hope everything goes smoothly off the back of your injury. I have a 10 km race next month too, not looking forward to it with my current fitness levels + the knowledge that I always struggle in warmer weather.

Race weekend! Camping overnight beforehand. It should start raining at about 11 pm. Race will start at 9am. 25k / 16-ish miles with ~4000 feet of climbing, and it will be raining the whole time.

I just picked up some goops for extra calories and a new rain shell. It packs up small so I can stuff it in my pack once I get too hot and accept my inevitable sogginess.

It’s going to be an experience. I don’t have any other events planned for after this one, so we shall see if I can keep the training up.

I camped and raced as well. Luckily the weather was perfect. The 8 hours 46 minutes of running through forest and heath were gorgeous. Great event – and I placed 11th in my distance (75km but actually more like 78).

Gentle run this morning with the doggo. Still sore from the weekends fun-run. Anyone take supplements for muscle soreness here? Thinking I might need to try some

I bought new shoes. That’s not particularly special, but these are the first neutral shoes since I started running, almost 25 years ago. In the past year, my running stance appears to have changed. My antipronation shoes are pretty much written off by now, but the heel part of the sole is still relatively intact. In other words, I have changed to forefoot landing, whereas I used to land on my midfoot.
