Just booted up the game again after a significant time away and figured I’d try doing something new; building a more robust base rather than something that’s just practical.
Thing is I’m used to searching only on the basis of practicality. So, how do you find nice locations to build something aesthetically pleasing rather than just fit for purpose?

Always nice to have an Electromagnetic power source nearby
I’m pretty simple on this front:
- Visibility over a good distance
- Proximity to water so it looks nice
- Pretty flat so I don’t have to worry about hills and stuff inside my base
Thanks, I’ll keep these in mind as I’m searching.
My favorites are:
- top of a plateau or cliff
- beachside with a sweeping view of the water
- elevated above a busy grassland with interesting creatures to watch
- angled to catch a sun/moon rise over interesting landscape
- inside a very stormy area or with aggressive animals where I can safely watch it all through the glass
