Ukraine’s human rights ombudsman has denounced the alleged execution of nine captured Ukrainian troops by Russian forces in the Kursk border region.

Dmytro Lubinets said he had written to the United Nations and the Red Cross about the allegations, accusing Moscow of breaching “all the rules and customs of war”.

The intervention follows reporting by Ukrainian battlefield analysis site DeepState, which published drone footage purporting to show the dead troops who it said were drone operators. Officials in Russia have yet to comment on the allegations.

If they were drone operators out in the open I suppose thats a pretty good case that they were unarmed?

Why would drone operators be unarmed tho? They should at least be carrying handguns.

Still a warcrime ofc if they were disarmed and pows at time of execution.

If I were a drone operator with a handgun I think I’d prefer to stay indoors, but maybe I’m wrong idk.

While yes, fuck Russia Putin, if the drones were still up they were still technically armed and a combatant.

If they had surrendered, different story. But then again, if I surrendered and still carried my assault rifle have I surrendered?

I think the LOAC and geneva conventions, along with UN charter need to be updated for a modern world.

I did see a video on [war video sub here] where they lined up (iirc) 16 POWs and gunned them down recorded by a drone. I’ll look for it but might forget to come back to edit the comment.

EDIT: turns out I saw it on reddit. NSFW, but taken from a low quality drone video. Still, you’ve been warned. video for the brave

There’s actually a lot more results for execution on that sub. Like 5 feet away. Thats enough internet for today.
