This means you won’t be limited to messaging emergency services; you’ll be able to message anyone you want. It also means the feature can be used anytime your mobile connection disappears.

    Neat, I thought it was going to be restricted to emergency use.

      Just try reading the fucking article instead of guessing.

      Google notes that satellite connectivity should be compatible with carrier messaging apps. In the US, only a few carriers offer the option to activate satellite messaging. One of them is T-Mobile.

        So if you’re not using T-Mobile, or don’t want to use proprietary apps, then basically yes.
