Hi [email protected]

Let’s bring back the posting and get more activity in the community.

My question: What is your most prized possession?

I’ll start with mine. It’s a watch. More specifically it’s the Casio AE1500WH-1AV digital watch.

Why you ask? It simply limits my phone-use and allows me to be present. I can check the clock and date (full auto-calendar till 2099), no phone needed. I can start a timer, no phone needed. Has orange backlight on a button, without always on light, which allows me to see the clock in the middle of the night without ruining my sleep.

These are the features I use the most, however it has other useful functions a freaking 10 year battery (which is neat when you hate charging), 100m water resistance, 5 alarms, split times,

Also the price is 30$, which means it doesn’t matter if it gets destroyed, lost or otherwise, it’s pretty cheap to get a new one. However it hasnt happened yet, even though I’m pretty careless with it.

I’ve shown you mine, now show and tell us about yours.

Despite being an atheist, my most cherished possession is my bible. It was given to my mother the day she was born, in 1960, and she presented it to me when I got baptized when I was 10 years old. She died in 2010, and my bible is the last thing I really have of her. I really miss her.

    most priced possession?

I think you mean prized, unless you specifically mean most expensive.

Probably the Boy Scouts pocket knife my father gave to me when I became a Scout Leader. He replaced the wooden handles, at one point it had the BSA seal, but that has long since fallen off.

          Lools very nice!

Are you still a boyscout leader? And do you use the knife for whittling or just the regular ropecutting?

When the Mormon church moved away from BSA our Troop collapsed and never restarted after COVID. So no more scouts for me. I am still active with Girl Scouts (my daughter is a camp counselor).

I use the knife for anything that needs cutting. I do not whittle.

Oh I see. But glad it it’s still going strong! And that you’re engaged in it still, even though it’s just girl scouts. :)

“just Girl scouts”? That is a pretty shitty statement.

Just girl scouts, meant as in it’s not both but only one of them now. Not meant in any demeaning way.

Sorry, English is not my first language.

There are like 5 Uncanny X-men comic books that I have and and prize above many other possessions. They’re among the last links to my childhood.

Beyond that, just my notebooks. I made them; they are signposts of the times in which they were created.

So you got the original ones from your own childhood or reprints?

Also, could you share a photo of the notebooks you have made? Outside, not contents of the individual notebooks.

I have the originals from my childhood. Been stored away in my mom’s basement. Nothing of any real value cause the print runs were in the millions then. I could replace them pretty easily. They just happen to be the ones I bought with money from a paper route.

Notebooks are not anything special to look at. Various shapes and sizes, mostly dollar store varieties. I had one stolen back when I lived away. I’m still pissed. If I had the means, I’d offer a bounty on those books.

They’ve been gone 7 years. I mourn them.

Wasn’t meant as a monetary question. However more of a was it the ones you had originally from back then. :)

But didn’t you just say you made them yourself? Or did you just mean decoration wise?

Taking it was filled with your journaling since you’re willing to shell out to get it back, and not just blank?

I just mean it’s my writing. My words and thoughts engraved in time. That’s what I made.

Yeah. Or, alternatively, I hope that what I wrote inspired someone to act.

I’d say a piece of clothing would be a better fit, however if that’s not in the mix, then probably yes. :)
