Sometimes when I read a post the text color changes, I assume to indicate that I read it, but this isn’t consistent. How can I also force it to mark a post as read?

Thanks.

For me, I just upvote the post and it counts as read and you can un-upvote if you want and it stays read

Does anyone know if this is working as intended?

Is a post marked as read when you open it?

It is for me on the latest Github release. I don’t know if the app stores release updates as quickly so I just started using the apk’s off jerboa’s git.

I know that my Play Store version wasnt as up to date as the one I installed, but I also didn’t check for updates on the play store before switching.

But yeah everytime I go back to a community the post was just on changes color.

Good to know. I don’t use this function but this seems to work like intended (open the post or interact with it to mark as read).

I’ve noticed a few things going on with this.

If you’re viewing the image or linked url and simply click on the thumbnail for a direct link it doesn’t appear to recognize that post as having been read. You actually need to click on the title/comments to access the post for that to be recognized.

But beyond that, if you are viewing a post from your front page, it doesn’t actually reflect the post as having been read until you reload/refresh/restart the app. Even if you leave the front page to navigate into a community or profile it doesn’t appear to refresh this data to reflect what’s been read.

Strangely, clicking a link from within a given community rather than from your front page will reflect that post as read while going back from the post and viewing the community. But then returning to your front page from there still won’t have updated the post as read.

It’s a bit wonky and will likely be updated in the future but hopefully this helps you for now.

I would love if simply by looking at a post or scrolling past it, it’s considered read. This was one of my favorite features on Boost for Reddit. Maybe one of these lemmy apps will implement something similar to that.

Yea I am having the same issue here. Clicking on the image or link doesn’t toggle read for a post and I keep seeing it again. I hope this gets fixed in the coming release
