I don’t know why, but hunting sword makes me think of sitting in a blind all day waiting for a deer to come by so you can jump off and give it the plunging strike a la Dark Souls
Usually these were use to finish off game - especially dangerous game, like boars - to save ammunition, and avoid having to get in too close with a knife!
