This is okay, but it’s far from special. I feel like expecting anything substantial from Rocky is a mistake, but at the same time, you hope for something after such a long hiatus. A new sound, a mind-blowing delivery, clever lyrics, but instead all we get is throwaway music. Rocky remains obsessed with ingratiating himself to the same brands that have vocally excluded and even profited from the oppression of black people. It’s weird that even at one point he tries to diminish Rihanna to his baby mum. That’s not cool, it just shows he doesn’t have the balls to really be a trailblazer. I’ll bop to this and even check out the album, but he knows he can do much much better than this.
