Create flyers with your instance logo on the front, possibly url at the bottom and on the back along with play store and apple store lemmy app links.

Ideally, you’d hand them out or place them at business of which you’d like a certain type of user.

Easiest example. Say (Yea I know lemmy is anti religion just using for example purposes) you’re a Christian instance, you’d go to churches and ask if you can leave a stack or pass them out there.

You could do the same at bars, sex shops, or whatever type of audience you’re looking for.

Ideally the businesses would give you an ok to do that so you’re not soliciting.

Anyone done this?

Gonna be honest, most people don’t know what the Fediverse even is and would just be confused. Before promoting specific instances you have to promote the Fediverse, and that’s best accomplished by having normal organic conversations with people.

But the URL would drop people straight into what they’d be able to quickly realise was a social feed. Yea a lot probably wouldn’t then use it but a percentage probably would.

I would do it only if I was organizing the IRL community on the internet that I have direct involvement in.

If there would be new IRL community that need a digital space, (theoritically) I would go around and talk to the lead (or be the lead) and crete a space for the people to use.

I wouldn’t. But you do you. It would be interesting to hear how well an IRL campaign would work to get users on the Fediverse.
