I made good progress with the Greenhouse of oddities SAL 3rd planting. Only one shade of green left, as well as the backstitch, before moving on to the 4th planting.
Also I felt compelled to post a pic of my needle after about 3 weeks of work. this set came as a compliment from Cross-stitch corner but same happens with the cheapo needles included in the kits. More “premium” needles (at 20-30¢ a piece) seem to oxidize as well but much slower!
I finished my Lughnasadh teapot this week! Just in time for Lughnasadh (Aug 1) too. I’m planning to watch Meryl Streep’s Dancing in Lughnasa this weekend to celebrate.
I also shifted over to stitching my sister in law a birthday card. I found this adorable pixel art by Fhupaws of a bunny eating cake that I converted into a pattern for it.
That teapot is cool! At first glance I thought the pot itself was painted onto the fabric but now I see it’s just a really smooth gradient 😄
Thank you! 😂 Yeah, the pattern included a lot of blends, so it came out really smooth.
Oh the greenhouse is really coming along fast! I’ll never unsee the “dinosaur” at the bottom but that’s ok, he’s cute lol.
After my mammoth undertaking this weekend I put about 10 stitches in something last night and noped out. So no pretty pictures here! But I should hopefully have a finish for FO Friday if I can bear to face the hour or so it’ll take to complete Garden Cat 😅

Yeah I guess it kinda looks like a tiny cute dinosaur. I shall name him Frank.
Oh no! My first time being ackshuallied on Lemmy 😱
I was trying to think of a name for him and couldn’t come up with anything that seemed fitting. But Frank is perfect. Hi Frank!
I just recently posted about my needle turning black after a few weeks of use! I’m still using it because I can’t bring myself to throw it away and use another one until it’s completely unusable lol
That’s what prompted me to post mine. I did an experiment last night, soaking it in vinegar. It made it even darker and the oxidation seems to have spread…so I had to toss it. Sadly it was beginning to mess with my stitches because of the friction the dark layer had caused.
I did notice tonight that it is getting more difficult to finish pulling the needle under the previous stitches. I may have to retire this needle soon. It’s almost entirely black now lol
I may just bite the bullet and pay for the gold needles once I use all of these up
Well, I didn’t get much done this week, but prior to that I hadn’t stitched at all in a few weeks so I’m going to count my progress as a win. I’m working on Stitchrovia’s Venice pattern.
