Gun trafficking is fueling increased violence and crime throughout the Caribbean, according to U.S. and Caribbean officials. Violent deaths in the Caribbean are nearly three times the global average. Countries like Jamaica, Haiti and Trinidad and Tobago top international lists for nations with the highest murder rates.
More than half of these murders involve guns, many of which can be traced back to the United States.
It’s just coincidence that every country that’s even vaguely close to the US has a huge problem with American guns in the hands of criminals. Couldn’t possibly be related
Gosh I guess it could be the guns that are the problem.
But maybe more guns will fix it? /s
The only way to stop a bad guy trafficking a gun is for a good guy to traffic a gun.
Be nice if tariffs go up on guns
The guns are made in the US. No tariffs. And smugglers don’t pay tariffs anyway.
Tariffs on gun powder, maybe? On whatever metals make guns?
A tariff on steel and aluminum will have much farther reaching consequences than guns. A specific tariff on smokeless powder is pretty unlikely, though maybe could be part of trying to ramp up domestic production. The US military is trying to make that happen, but that’s kind of the opposite of what you want.
I’m not American, but fewer guns would still be nice
