Summary

Donald Trump’s 2024 victory was fueled by nationwide rightward shifts, with 85.2% of counties voting for him and the median vote margin moving 3.2 points right compared to 2020.

Kamala Harris underperformed Joe Biden across key demographics, including Black and Asian American communities, while Trump made notable gains among Latino voters, especially Hispanic men.

Shifts were also evident in counties with high school graduates, advanced-degree holders, and high costs of living.

Experts attribute these changes to lower Democratic turnout and voter dissatisfaction with the economy.

Goes to show that education and critical thinking skills don’t mix.

Definitely don’t think too much about why it is, exactly, that people are being steered away from degrees that actually do teach critical thought.

I also will not think about the reason behind why exactly politicians are dismantling public education as quickly as they can.

White and latino men were the largest demographic shifts of who sat out the election

Every other stat is almost a non factor to these two data points.

If every person who voted for Biden in 2020 did the same for Harris in 2024 then she would have won in a landlslide

But they lost 8-10% of those specific demographics, probably because of the masculinity issues of American men

The two trends that really bite are the searches on election day for “Did Biden drop out?” and “How do I change my mail in vote?” A significant number of people were either so uninformed that they had not noticed the biggest story of the election or were so confident in the polls that they only realized the consequences of a protest vote when it was far to late to change. I’m not saying these are the only reasons for how things shook out but they are, for me, the most infuriating.

Definitely a very clear echo of the whole Brexit protest vote regret vibe.

Except this is like having Brexit, undoing it, and then doing it all the fuck over again after seeing how fucking dumb it was.

Sounds like they need to be highly reeducated.

Too bad only Republicans are pushing policy for reeducation camps.

We know republican voters aren’t interested in educating themselves…
